Vanessa Chen, MEd, Registered Provisional Psychologist

Pronouns: She / Her
Ethnicity: Chinese
As a teenager, I faced the loss of three close people in quick succession. To cope, I pushed my grief aside rather than addressing it. After my third loss, a friend’s suicide, I began researching warning signs and wondered if I was at risk. My internal struggle made me hesitant to seek help, fearing it might worsen my mental health. Fortunately, someone encouraged me to see a therapist, which helped me understand my emotions, regain control, and find hope.

I now aim to normalize therapy and challenge the cultural belief in my community that mental health issues aren’t real or are only expressed through physical symptoms.

As your psychologist, I’m committed to providing a caring, safe, and open environment for us to work together. It’s a privilege to be part of your journey and witness your growth.
