Dr. Wu is an AOBNP (American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry) Board Certified Psychiatrist with extensive experience in treating adult patients with a wide variety of mental health conditions and who come from diverse backgrounds. He specializes in treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, and insomnia. He also has expertise in psychopharmacology, and enjoys keeping up-to-date with the latest advances in psychiatric medications. While utilization of appropriate psychiatric medications is a vital role in improving a patient’s mental well-being, Dr. Wu will also judiciously integrate aspects of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy during patient appointments to further optimize each patient’s mental well-being.

Dr. Wu utilizes the biopsychosocial approach to treating his patients, which addresses and treats the biological (neurobiology, pharmacogenetics, genetic vulnerabilities), psychological (coping and social skills), and social (family and peer relationships, environmental factors) aspects that affect each patient’s life. Each patient has a unique combination of these aspects that can negatively impact the patient’s life, and solving this “puzzle” requires an individualized approach that Dr. Wu meticulously employs. This thorough approach also allows Dr. Wu to treat and care for his patients as a “whole person”, and not by treating each symptom as a distinct entity. This unique treatment philosophy encouraged Dr. Wu to start his own private practice, Meadows Psychiatry LLC, so that he can utilize it to the fullest and provide the highest quality of psychiatric care and treatment to his patients.

Dr. Wu was born in Washington, D.C., and raised in neighboring Maryland. After graduating high school in Montgomery County, Maryland, Dr. Wu went on to complete his undergraduate studies with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. After completion of his undergraduate studies, Dr. Wu returned to Maryland and served as a volunteer firefighter for several years. Following this, Dr. Wu completed medical school at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale-Davie, FL, and earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree. After this, he went on to successfully complete an ACGME-accredited Psychiatry Residency Training Program at Largo Medical Center in Largo, FL. Dr. Wu’s desire to help and treat patients from his home state of Maryland motivated his return back to Maryland.
