Bio

I’m a Columbia & Harvard trained psychologist with about a decade of experience treating anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and more. I know how tiring it can be working with therapists that don’t understand your culture and how much session time can be wasted constantly having to explain customs and family dynamics. Given how expensive therapy is, it can be more effective and lead to more opportunity for reflection and change if you are able to spend sessions talking about what is really important to YOU.

As a child of Bangladeshi immigrants who was raised in Queens NYC, I also understand how uncomfortable it may feel to discuss mental health challenges with your immediate or extended family, neighbors (especially aunties), or general community. If you have tried communicating your feelings, you may have been told, “What will people say?” or “Just pray” and felt unsafe to share any further.

If you identify as Asian and are looking for a therapist who “gets it” and can provide a culturally competent and non-judgmental space for you to process life experiences, I would probably be a good fit! I look forward to hearing from you and working as a team to achieve your therapy goals. I am proud of you for making your mental health a priority.

I have openings for online therapy in New York and in-person and online therapy in Massachusetts. I am available Mon-Fri & Sun. Please call (508) 281-9103 and leave a voicemail or email: ndenese@denesepsychology.com for a free 15-min consultation today.
