Bio

I am a board certified music therapist and a licensed professional music therapist passionate in giving space and listening to the voice to my clients and my community. I utilize multimodal experiences to help clients understand the impact of sterotypes and the model minority narriative consciously and unconsciously.

Growing up, I did not know nor understand what it meant to be a model minority. I did not understand how my experiences as a first-generation Asian American would impact me. I have chosen to challenge the narriative and thoughts that are still present today.

On top of the challenges and experiences clients may have experienced in their upbriningm, the experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic has led to the need for APIDA mental health. I strive to hold space and listen to the voices of my clients to begin their healing journey.

My experience includes working with marginalized children, adoelscents, and young adults engaging in mental health, trauma, and understanding the impact of intersecting identities including race and gender. It is important in my work for me to examine the person as a whole; including all aspects of a person’s background and experiences. I operate in the lens of understanding ones’ unconscious thoughts, feelings, and emotions as well as understanding the impact of the systems surrounding a person. I prioritize meeting my clients where they are at and to adapt my way of practice based on goals and needs of my clients.
