Leifennie Asanuddin Ang, RCC, CCC

Sex/Gender: Female, Cisgender
Pronouns: She / Her
Ethnicity: Chinese, Indonesian, Malaysian

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), and a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

I am also a parent to a vibrant young child. This deeply meaningful role has illuminated aspects of myself that require attention and growth. Parenthood invites me to confront my vulnerabilities with curiosity and approach self-discovery with compassion. It motivates me to create a nurturing environment where both my child and my clients feel cherished, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I spent over a decade working in the commercial, film, and TV industry, both in front of and behind the camera, across Asia, Europe, and North America.

I believe in empowering my clients through a collaborative approach, focusing on a “power-with” rather than a “power-over” stance. I recognize that while we all possess innate abilities for healing and growth, some factors may hinder our self-expression and alignment with our values. My role is to create a safe and supportive space where you can explore your experiences and discover your unique path to wellness and wholeness.

I collaborate with clients to:
– Gain clarity on core values and what they want in life
– Align actions and choices with them
– Understand early experiences that shape them and how to rewire these
– Explore, identify, and challenge protective beliefs that hinder connection and growth
– Move toward a meaningful relationship with themselves and others
– Foster communication and conflict resolution skills in relationships
– Navigate life transitions
– Navigate cultural dynamics: balancing the influences of their background with the dominant culture they live in
– Move from awareness to practical strategies in daily life
– Transform self-talk to reflect greater love and compassion
– Expand capacity to experience and express emotion

My therapeutic style focuses on equipping you with the skills to feel anchored in your own capability to self-lead so you can increase your capacity to connect with the different parts of you. I aim to help you develop awareness and consistency in making choices that foster a loving and compassionate relationship with yourself and others. I strive to maintain an affirming, inclusive, and supportive practice that embraces people of all genders, sexual orientations, neurodiversity, backgrounds, ethnicities, and religious beliefs. I deeply respect and honor your intersectionality.
