Bio

Hee-Eun is a first-generation Korean American raised in the United States with roots in California, Texas, and Pennsylvania. She is a Gemini sun, Sagittarius rising, and Leo moon; a self-expressive with a strong creative drive. She is all about rest and play and she enjoys going to the beach with her rescue dog and cooking and baking. As an inclusive therapist, her therapeutic approach centers therapy through an anti-oppressive lens and cultural humility. She is EMDR trained with Personal Transformation Institute in their Somatic and Attachment-focused EMDR therapy program.

As an EMDR somatic based therapist, Hee-Eun works with individuals who feel stuck, lost and are looking to find their voice and confidence through therapy and reprocessing. Her approach to healing is based on decolonizing mental health care and steering away from pathologizing in order to understand the true root of the presenting issue.

Her practice is centered on restoring the mind and body connection through a somatic and therapeutic lens. She focuses on exploring the physical and emotional symptoms of distress by acknowledging the root of their symptoms. This requires acknowledging possible trauma or negative experiences that have been unprocessed in the body. Techniques used in session extend to mindfulness meditation, somatic awareness and EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy.
