Finding a therapist can be such a daunting, overwhelming process! As someone who’s been a therapy client myself, one thing that has helped me feel more comfortable opening up to a new person is learning a little about who they are.
So in an effort to offer that to you, here’s a bit about me: I was born and raised in the greater Denver-metro area, then moved to Seattle for graduate school and have been here ever since. What initially drew me to pursue my graduate degree in social work was a desire to build a career that was aligned with my values around social justice and liberation. What drew me to being a therapist was realizing the transformative power of participating in therapy as a client and wanting to share that with others. I view the continuation of my own healing and growing journey as integral to living the life I want and to sustaining my capacity to continue this work.
A few identities I hold include: queer/bisexual, non-binary femme (my pronouns are she/they), neurodivergent, and mixed race with Japanese and white ancestry. Navigating situations where I am privileged, marginalized and/or somewhere in between at various points in my life has forced me to grapple with ambiguity and complex power dynamics. I believe these lived experience enrich my ability to hold complexity, contradiction, to challenge binary thinking and find peace in holding multiple truths simultaneously.
I do my best to be my authentic self when working with clients because I believe when we allow ourselves to be who we are, it invites others to do the same. I invite you to bring your whole self into sessions. All of your identities and parts of you will be welcomed.
I find joy in being creative, taking walks in nature, karaoke nights, reading, playing boardgames, pulling tarot cards, cuddling with my dog Tato-Tot, and hanging out with friends and family.
My style in session is warm, relational, down-to-earth and strengths-based. I bring a spirit of curiosity, collaboration and compassion to each session. The way I view the world considers the ways systems of oppression and shape our present and past and as a result, this lens is always woven into the work I do with clients.
