Great to meet you!

My name is Ben, and I am a licensed psychotherapist with over fifteen years of experience in social and behavioral health . I focus on supporting the unique mental health needs of Asian Americans and communities of color. I received my MSW and BS from UCLA with specializations in culture & human behavior, life transitions & growth, and health & wellness.

My life and professional experiences, coupled with a deep curiosity for examining and lifting up stories of the Asian-American experience and its nuances, shape my therapy practice. I pay close attention to the challenges faced by Asian Americans, including the pressures of acculturation, intergenerational conflict, the model minority myth, identity struggles, and the stigma surrounding mental health.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I provide therapy that is in-depth, insight-oriented, and relationship-centeredThis approach addresses immediate disruptive symptoms while also exploring their underlying cultural and familial roots.

Together, we may reflect on past experiences, re-examining unreconciled memories and hidden wounds within the context of your cultural background, with the goal of fostering healing and resilience.

We can also work to address current stressors and challenges, navigating the complexities of living in a multicultural society.

We can also strategize solutions and plan for the future!

What you can expect from our first session

My goal is not to “fix” you, but rather to co-create a safe and culturally sensitive space where you can explore your most authentic self.
Over time, I hope to empower you to connect with yourself in new ways, discovering deeper meaning and clarity about your identity, experiences, and aspirations. This journey of self-discovery and acceptance can lead to greater self-esteem, resilience, and fulfillment.
